LOAN SPELL SETBACK

The Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner has suffered a setback in his aims to extend his loan spell at the Italian club Juventus into permanent deal. He has suffered an injury that will keep him out of the action for a few months. The 24-year-old Dane moved from Arsenal to the Italian champions Juventus on a season long loan deal. He has been hoping to make the move permanent by impressing the Italian champions sufficiently during this period. However, he has been mostly a substitute under the assistant manager of the club. Now, the manager of the club Antonio Conte has returned from his ban to take charge of the first team.

Nicklas Bendtner was playing in the cup match against Cagliari when he picked up the injury. Due to the serious nature of the injury, he has had to undergo an operation that will keep him out of action at least for a few months. As a result of this injury, he has returned to Arsenal and he will remain at the club before recuperating completely. So far, he has yet to find the back of the net for his new club in eight appearances. However, he has been extremely confident that he will be able to score for Juventus provided with the right number of opportunities.

“His prognosis and rehabilitation schedule will be verified with English doctors over the next few days. The Danish striker was operated on in London last night by Arsenal consultant Ernest Schilders, for the reinsertion of the adductor longus tendon in his left thigh,” said a statement on the official website of Juventus. Juventus are currently top of the table having taken 41 points from 17 matches played so far. They have a mammoth seven-point advantage over second placed Inter Milan and Italian Serie A.
