In the opinion of Aritz Aduriz, the veteran player of Athletic Bilbao, Neymar might be one of the most accomplished and well known individual in the soccer world, but, not everything is right about his attitude and he definitely needs to improve it.
Aduriz was indulged in quite an animated tussle with Neymar on the pitch during the recent game between Barcelona and Athletic.
Not only did Aduriz foul Neymar, but, he also seemed to be deliberately getting in physical contact with him.
However, the Spaniard later clarified that nothing was intentional on his part and he even conveyed his apologies to Neymar for whatever happened, but, he did say that he wished the Barcelona superstar could bring a little change in the way he goes about his game on the pitch.
Post that Cup game, which resulted in a 1-2 loss for Athletic, Aduriz, the only player to have found the net for the home team, said, “I was not looking to hurt him by any means. Those sorts of stuffs happen in a game.”
“But, I would like to say that although Neymar is one of the greatest players around, he should change his attitude a little bit.”
Neymar, however, did not appear to have any grudges against anyone when he was interviewed at the end of the game.
The striker was quoted as saying, “Whatever happened there should remain there. There is no point dragging it off the pitch.”
“It’s the job of the officials who are in charge of the game to look into those matters and I think they did a decent job.”
Aduriz’s strike at the end reduced Barcelona’s margin of victory to one goal only and kept Athletic’s chances of advancement to semis very much alive.
